The detour battles

Shining Force 3: Battle against General Franz

This battle type is not as clear to distinct from standard battles like the other battle types mentioned in this strategy guide. You'll often face situations where you have to consider the detour-strategy.

The best example for this kind of battle is the fight against General Franz in Shining Force 3. If you take the short way round this battlefield, you're going to face a massive amount of enemies, attacking you from both sides on top of that.

The best way to solve this situation is to send a small team forward and lure some enemies away from one of the suqads. After you have beaten them, you can advance to the other squad and finally head for the boss squad.

Be aware that if you're going to lurk enemies away, you might activate ALL enemies to head to you, so be most careful and always make sure there's room behind you so that you can draw back if necessary.
